How do you remove an electric meter?
The network provider will need to de-energise the service before the process begins, as this is a very dangerous process to perform, and it’s against the law for anyone else to try and attempt it. Once the supply has been de-energised, a certified electrician can then uninstall the meter.
Does electricity need to be disconnected at the same time?
You can still have the infrastructure for electricity but if you don’t register an electric meter within 6 months of the original meter being removed, the electricity supply will be disconnected from the source. You will then need to apply for a new electricity connection.
